Welcome to Classroom Canberra

“Unearth-Ed, a proudly Australian family-owned business, has been operating for 37 years. Acquired by the Crowther Family 20 years ago, our family business spans 100 years across three generations.

As the leader for the past 30 years, I am proud to pass the baton to the fourth generation, Caitlin Crowther. With a decade of marketing experience outside the family business, Caitlin will lead Unearth-Ed into the future.

Our staff, known for their industry expertise, friendliness, and professionalism, partner with top-tier suppliers to deliver exceptional Canberra School Excursions.

The Canberra School Excursion is a cherished rite of passage for many students, often marking their first time away from family. This pivotal experience introduces them to governance, culture, and history on a grand scale. For students from regional or remote Australia, it may include a visit to Kosciuszko National Park, where they can experience snow for the first time.

Beyond the educational impact, friendships forged during these excursions often last a lifetime. In a rapidly changing world, where norms are challenged, beliefs are questioned, and technology reshapes learning, the Canberra School Excursion remains a powerful tool. It fosters an understanding of democracy, governance, equality, tolerance, and open-mindedness - core foundations of our society.

Thank you for the vital role you play in making the Canberra School Excursion a transformative experience for students.”

1,000 Voices for Reconciliation

A Yarning Song

On May 30, 2025, the Great Hall of Parliament House in Canberra swelled with the harmonious voices of 1,000 singers from across Australia, united in a powerful performance for the “1,000 Voices for Reconciliation - A Yarning in Song”.

This landmark gathering was held during National Reconciliation Week and Unearth-Ed was honoured to support this extraordinary event by facilitating the travel of students to Canberra.

Unleash Your Inner Athlete

Australia’s love of sport is stronger than ever as we look ahead to the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. What better way to inspire the next generation than with a tour of the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS)?

A highlight of every tour is Sportex, our cutting-edge interactive sports exhibit. Students can test their skills across a range of sports, explore fascinating memorabilia, and learn through play. In 2025, Sportex is undergoing an exciting transformation, with new exhibits including snowboarding, canoe slalom, and track cycling.

No visit is complete without a stop at the AIS Shop. Check out our exclusive merchandise and sporting gear and take home your very own AIS souvenir. Students can also take advantage of our pre-purchased AIS Active Packs, which include selected merchandise, or shop our full range of items online.

Looking for catering options? Our onsite café and catering team can prepare delicious and healthy morning or afternoon tea, as well as custom lunch packs tailored to your group's needs.

Physical Fun for Busy Days

Energising Activities for Students on the Canberra Excursion

Planning a school excursion to Canberra involves balancing educational experiences with activities that allow students to unwind and have fun. Here are some fantastic options to break up a packed itinerary and give students the chance to exert some energy while enjoying the sites.

COCKINGTON GREEN

The fresh air and open spaces provide a great opportunity for kids to stretch their legs and enjoy a leisurely walk amidst beautifully landscaped gardens. A perfect blend of engagement and open space.

ZONE 3 LASER TAG

This action-packed activity allows kids to engage in strategic gameplay while running around in a safe, supervised environment. It’s an excellent way for students to burn off excess energy!

POWER KART RACEWAY

Indoor electric go-karting, an 18-hole glow-in-the-dark mini golf course, and a virtual reality room. Each activity is safely supervised and encourages friendly competition and movement.

ZONE BOWLING

This venue is perfect for team-building and social interaction, offering a fun break from the more structured parts of the excursion. It’s a great night time activity and for those bad weather days.
