EXPLORING IDENTITY, STORYTELLING AND IMAGINATION

Creative education plays a powerful role in helping students understand themselves and the world around them. The arts build confidence, empathy and communication skills, all essential qualities for the next generation of young thinkers.

These partner experiences bring culture and creativity to life in engaging, student-centered ways.

National Portrait Gallery - Art That Tells a Story

Every portrait has a story - a life, a moment or a message. At the National Portrait Gallery, students explore identity, representation and storytelling through visual art. Guided tours help them interpret artworks, uncover hidden narratives and reflect on their own unique perspectives.

Perfect for:

  • English and Humanities

  • Visual Arts

  • Leadership and wellbeing programs

Canberra Glassworks - A Creative Fusion of Art + STEM

Canberra Glassworks encourages students to experiment, create and innovate. They observe artists in action, learn about glass as a material and explore the creative process from concept to finished work. It’s hands-on, inspiring, and connects beautifully to both art and STEM curriculum.

Cockington Green - Miniatures, History & Craftsmanship

A favourite among students and teachers, Cockington Green blends artistry with cultural storytelling. Students explore handcrafted miniature villages representing global history and culture. It’s an engaging way to spark discussions about geography, tradition and world-building.

These creative and cultural experiences complement the Australian Curriculum across The Arts, English and Humanities learning areas. Students explore concepts of identity, representation, culture and storytelling - all central to achievement standards from Years 3–10. Through visual analysis, critical and creative thinking, and hands-on artistic processes, these programs support outcomes in Visual Arts, Civics and Citizenship, Intercultural Understanding and the General Capabilities. They offer powerful real-world connections that enrich classroom learning.

When students step into creative environments like these, they develop confidence, curiosity and a richer understanding of themselves and others - all core aims of the Australian Curriculum’s focus on identity, representation and intercultural understanding. If your school is looking to bring arts and culture to life in an engaging, curriculum-aligned way, our team can design a tailored experience that meets your learning goals.
